About Us

My Practice Services is a bespoke private practice consulting company that mentors and supports healthcare professionals in the set-up, start-up and ongoing operation of their business. We understand how the numerous competing demands of practice management can easily leave you feeling overwhelmed. With our tried and tested expertise, as well as our comprehensive, team-based approach, we are here to help.

Our team of healthcare consultants offer an expansive and complementary skill set – we understand the business of medicine, the practicalities of private practice and how to create more effective outcomes in all areas of your practice, including enhanced patient experience. Our 1 – 10 framework equips you with a time-tested approach to setting up and running a healthcare practice, with which we can help you to achieve greater heights of successful practice ownership.

Founded by Lisa Phelps and Vicki Hayward in 2010, MyPS was created in response to the challenges often faced by healthcare specialists in juggling the demands of running a private practice whilst managing the demands of a busy clinical load. Having previously established and managed a healthcare practice in Ballarat, Victoria, Lisa understands the difficulty of wearing many hats in a healthcare practice. Armed with a unique understanding of all facets of private practice at both a strategic and operational level, Lisa and Vicki set out to create a private practice consulting service that enabled them to share their knowledge and expertise with all healthcare professionals who wanted to set-up and maintain a successful healthcare practice.

Lisa Phelps

Director

With over 30 years’ experience in the business of health, Lisa is well versed across the broad spectrum of private practice. Her first hand experience in establishing, managing and relocating a specialist medical practice formed the foundation of her expertise in medical practices.

Mark Amott

Associate

Mark has been working in health care for approximately 15 years in both operations and high level consultancy roles. For over a decade Mark was the managing director of a large scale veterinary emergency and referral centre. He was a co-founder of the centre and guided it through development to ultimate sale into a larger group. Since then Mark has consulted on aspects of business and marketing strategy to a number of businesses in the healthcare space.

Kay Gallary

Associate

Kay has over 30 years’ experience in the health and medical profession. Her career path to date has involved building solid leadership and management experience in Strategic and Business Planning, Business Development, Project Management, Risk Management, Quality Systems Assurance and Human Resources Management.

She possesses highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, strong conceptual abilities, and the drive to convert strategy into action. Kay is committed to using her experience to work with health professionals to achieve their business goals.

Lachie Phelps

Project Assistant

Lachie completed his Bachelor of Business at La Trobe University, majoring in Financial Management. Having worked for over 5 years in service industries, Lachie understands customer service and how important the consumer experience is to any business. He is able to provide hands on support to clients as well as assisting the MyPS team in a broad range of tasks and responsibilities. He has a large amount of hands-on experience working at both general and specialist practices.

Riwka Hagen

General Practice Advisor

Starting her professional career as a Medical Scientist, Riwka successfully implemented and managed a regional laboratory of a major pathology provider before embarking on a career of medical practice management and the role of surveyor in general practice accreditation. Riwka now enjoys assisting health professionals to take their businesses to the next level of success.

Vicki Hayward

Founding Director (Retired)

Starting her professional career as a teacher, Vicki has followed many pathways including general business consulting, marketing, human resource management and project management. For eight years Vicki was a Director of MyPS and, along with Lisa and their team, worked with doctors and their teams to bring about positive change and practice growth. Vicki has now moved into an Associate role while she pursues other interests.
