Employee Spotlight: Lisa Phelps, Director

As the director of MyPS, Lisa brings to the table over 30 years of experience in the healthcare business on both a strategic and operational level. Having spent many years helping healthcare professionals to establish new practices or improve upon their existing ones, Lisa is committed to helping her clients to achieve the best possible outcome for their patients and business.

Born and raised in Adelaide, Lisa first started out as a healthcare professional in nursing. She then moved on to become a Practice Manager and Administrator, as well as Business and Practice Advisor. Supported by a highly skilled team Lisa now leads MyPS as a Co-Founding Director, a role she has been in since 2010.

To get to know Lisa better as director of MyPS, I asked her 3 questions – this is what she had to say:

What is the best part of working at MyPS?

Without a doubt the best part is working with the MyPS team, our clients and their teams. It is a real privilege to support our clients provide the best possible care and service to their patients, whilst helping them build and run a successful business. We enjoy long term relationships with our clients and many have become friends and remain so, long after we have completed our work together.

What are your aspirations and visions for MyPS going forward?

That MyPS continues to evolve and respond to the ever-changing face of healthcare and private practice – this can only happen by engaging a broad range of people, young graduates through to more experienced business advisors and being willing to adapt and keep our strategies relevant. We aspire to have our clients consider the investment in our services, as an investment in their success.

Tell us a bit about your life and hobbies outside of work

We are currently living between Adelaide and Ocean Grove whilst my husband Grant fulfils a contract with Central Adelaide Local Health Network as Director of Clinical Governance. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to return ‘home’ as we both grew up in South Australia and have family and friends that we are enjoying reconnecting with. Spending time and supporting our own family, with both our sons still living in Victoria, is very important to us. Whenever we can venture onto the golf course we do and enjoy membership at beautiful 13th Beach Golf Club located just outside Barwon Heads. Our social calendar over winter is usually aligned with the AFL draw as we are ‘mad crows’ supporters. I must say it is a lot more fun as a supporter when we are the winning side!

I really enjoy a good read – a bit of romance, intrigue and history. The most recent book I enjoyed was ‘The Nightingale’ by Kirsten Hannah, which is a remarkable story of two sisters in France during World War 11 and their struggle to survive and resist German occupation, a truly inspiring story of courage, determination and bravery.

We enjoy indulging in movies and series of all genres, at the moment we are enthralled with The Bridge (Danish version)
